Freestyle Boot Camps Poster
The Heavenly Ski School department wanted to create ads for their Freestyle Lesson programs. Starting from concept, I made the ad with a grungy military feel, so the text and images could really pop off the page.
The idea came to me when I started looking through the Terrain Park image library. The most recent photos were taken from when the camp was ran by a company named “Southshore Soldiers”… so this would be the inspiration for the style of my design.
Seeing photos of the groups together with their instructors reminded me of troops listening to a drill sergeant, so I decided to make the poster resemble an old Army letter, using typewriter and stencil fonts, text treatments and bold, basic colors. A few other details were added in, such as the dog tags and the camouflage background.
I feel all these assets combine to really tie in the theme and make the poster eye-catching. The Ski School department approved this design and these posters are now scattered around the mountain.
